affects 50% of the population over the age of 80.
Visual function
- Combined and coordinated ability of visual organs
essential for optimal
- Visual quality: Visual acuity*
- Accommodation and clarity of images
- Color vision Extend of visual field*
- Detection of motion Adaptation to and perception of
contrasts
- Perception of depth and distances
- Good function and good coordination of these functions
guarantee a HEALTHY VISION.
Perception of contrasts
Ability to distinguish between an object and the background.
This ability decreases in bright light. It may be absent
in twilight and especially dim light.
Color vision
Ability for the eye to receive colored messages.
Apart from genetic anomalies that prevent vision of
certain colors (red-green, blue-yellow), some systemic
diseases such as diabetes may alter color vision.
